What's New? ------------------ REVISION #11 Added: A couple of notes a the end of one button fatality glitch section Added: Pattern to one button friendship glitch Modified: Frequently asked questions section Added: Note in "Select character in middle of game" trick .. it only works in a one player game. Added: New Galaga trick This will possibly be the final revision of this FAQ. ============== SUPER NINTENDO ============== TO PLAY AS SHAO KAHN (NO game genie required - 2 player mode only) At the menu screen, press: X, B, A, Y, Up, Left, Down, Right, Down You'll see Scott's Menu pop up..go there and enable Shao Kahn. Then, on the character select screen, press start on controller 2 and you should see him in the MIDDLE square. (See Scott's menu section for more details on other opions in the menu). SHAO KAHN'S MOVES ------------------ (His sledge hammer move has been korrected. Sorry, it was a typo. Thanx to all of you who spotted it and mailed me.) SHOULDER SLAM F, F, LP UPWARD THRUST F, F, HP SLEDGE HAMMER B, F, HP FIREBALL B, B, F, LP TAUNT D, D, LK LAUGH D, D, HK TO PLAY AS MOTARO (NO game genie required - 2 player mode only) At the menu select screen, press: Select, A, B, Right, Left, Down, Down, Up, Up. You'll see the Kooler Stuff menu pop up..go there and enable Motaro. Then, on the character select screen, press start on controller 2 and you should see him in the MIDDLE square. (See Kooler Stuff menu section for other options in the menu). MOTARO'S MOVES ------------------ GRAB AND SMACK F, F, LP FIREBALL F, D, B, HP (Try half circle away + HP) TAIL WHIP B + LK Teleport D, U NOTE ON PLAYING AS THE BOSSES If you have Smoke enabled with the bosses, all of them appear in the middle square. You'll see one in the middle and then the tile will flip and then there is another there. As far as I know, you cannot have Smoke fighting the bosses nor can you have the bosses fighting each other. You also CAN- NOT have two of the same bosses fighting each other (thanx also to the ppl who wrote me on this one as well. Remember you CANNOT use the bosses in a one player game nor will you see their faces in the character select screen. YOU CAN ONLY SELECT THE BOSSES IN A TWO PLAYER GAME!!! TO PLAY AS SMOKE At the copyright screen that shows up when you first turn on the game. hold LEFT on the control pad and hold button A. When the Williams screen appears, hold RIGHT on the control pad and hold button B. When the quote screen appears (There is no knowledge that is not power) hold both the x and y buttons. If you did the kode right, you should see Smoke walk across the screen that has the "MK3" symbol on it. On the character select screen, you can now choose SMOKE! (Thanx to SpiffyGuy for this one!) NOTE There are two ways of enabling smoke, one is to access the Kooler Stuff Menu. KOOL STUFF KODE This kode will allow you to access a cheat menu (kool stuff). At the main menu screen, (the one that says "start" and "options" do the following on the control pad: Press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, A, B, A. If you do the kode right, you will hear Shao Kahn laugh and see the "kool stuff" option appear. (See Kool Stuff Menu section for options on that menu). RANDOM SELECT On the character select screen, press Up and hold start. STEALTH SELECT Ok, here's a better way of doing the stealth select. This kode keeps your opponent from seing who you are going to select. On the character select screen : Controller 1: Rotate the control pad counterclockwise Controller 2: Rotate the control pad clockwise This motion must be done VERY fast. No need to press select. TOURNAMENT MODE Just as in MK2, you can hold button L and button R on and then press start on the menu screen. One thing I found is that if you hold start on the screen and press A, the computer will select your opponent for you. And then there is the "?" The ? simply means that you won't find out which character the computer chose for you until he/she actually pops up in battle....interesting! TOURNAMENT MODE RANDOM SELECT (from Jev Vandergrift vndergrift@qns.com) Just hold up and press start and the CPU will select ALL characters for you. SELECT CHARACTER IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME (You must have pause enabled) Have you ever selected a character and it wasn't the one you wanted? Well, instead of resetting the game, try this. Press start on the other controller (the one you're not playing with) and the game will pause. Now, simply press start on your controller and you can select another character. NOTE - This trick only works in a one player game!! SOUND TEST At the menu select screen, press: A, Y, B, X GALAGA TRICK When player 1 and player 2 are playing Galaga, if player 2 dies, he can still move around and shoot, although he will be invisible during this time. He will only be able to fire a few bullets here and there so you really need a controller with rapid fire (turbo) for this trick to work good becuase it seems to fire a lot more when set on turbo. =================== MENU SECTION =================== This section has been added to give you a list of options for each of the cheat menus and an explanation of what some of the options are for. SCOTT'S MENU ----------------- At the menu screen, press: X, B, A, Y, Up, Left, Down, Right, Down Here is the list of options, explanations are provided whenever needed: THROWS ON/OFF BLOCKS ON/OFF SWEEPS ON/OFF SWITCHEROO ON/OFF (This is the randpor fighting. If you have this selected, your character will morph into someone else every few seconds) UNLIMITED RUN ON/OFF QUICK UPPERCUT ON/OFF (When this option is turned on, the uppercut recovery time is lessened) HYPER FIGHTING ON/OFF (turbo mode) SHAO KAHN ON/OFF (allows you to select shao kahn in a 2 player game) PLAY SLOTS ON/OFF - This is one of the strangest options in the game. (see SCOTT'S SLOTS for more details and vs. screen kodes). SCOTT'S SLOTS HAS ANYBODY FIGURED OUT A WAY TO WIN EVERY TIME OR MOST OF THE TIME AT THE SLOT MACHINES?????????????????? Apparently, if you can get three squares to match up on one side (I think this is how it works), it will give you a vs. screen kode that you can use on the SNES version. Here is a list of the ones found so far. Thanks to everyone who sent them in. SNES Specific VS SCREEN KODES (Kodes from the arcade are listed in the move faq .. they also work on SNES). ........................................................................ 955-955 = Extended Fatality Time 091-293 = Sweeping Disabled 445 = Disables Timer (Enter kode on either or both sides) 449-449 = Players Invisible 688-688 = Quick Uppercut Recovery 987-655 = Play Scott's Slots 999-995 = Kombos Disabled 012-012 = Timer Disabled, Health Recovery 432-234 = Timer Disabled, Limited Damage 120-120 = Credits screen before fight 989-898 = Tournament Mode 221-557 = Always uppercut through ceilings, even if there isn't one! 944-944 = One Round, One Button Fatalities 191-191 = Turbo Mode ........................................................................ ONE BUTTON FATALITIES Ever wanted to see all of the fatalites, babalities, etc. in the game but are never quite good enough to pull them off? Well, now you can see them all!:) Just activate one button fatalities and you're all set. If you're wondering which buttons correspond to which finishing move, I have experimented and made a list. Keep in mind that you can be standing anywhere on the screen to do any one button fatality, just so long as you press the right button. Button B = Fatality (Close) Button X = Animality Button Y = Fatality (Far) Button R = Babality Button A = Friendship Button L = Stage (Pit) Fatality ONE BUTTON FATALITY GLITCHES ------------------------------------------- There's been some glithes found using one button fatalities so I've added this section. Please keep in mind that you have to have one button fatalities turned on in order to do any of these. COOL SMOKE GLITCH (You must have one button fatalitles enabled to do this) When you're playing with Smoke and you have one button fatalities enabled, wait until your opponents energy is down to where they can only take one more hit. Get as close as you can to them and fire the harpoon. Then, immediately press the "B" button to activate the fatality. The harpoon should still be in your opponent. Smoke will attempt to drop the bomb in the opponents mouth but it will freeze in midair - all music stops. It will stay frozen even while announcer says "Smoke wins - fatality" Pretty cool to see!:) UPPERCUT BABALITY GLITCH Get your opponent's energy down so that they can only take one more hit. Make the last hit an uppercut and when they are flying through the air, immediately hit the run button to do the babality. The opponent will turn into a baby but will stay suspended in mid-air. PIT FATALITY GLITCH Keep in mind that you can only do a one button pit on The Subway, Pit 3, and Tower stages. If you try it anywhere else, an interesting thing happens. You're character will simply uppercut the opponent. The other player will stand up and stagger for about four seconds while your character stands in his/her winning stance. After the fatality time runs out, the announcer will say that you did a fatality. All the while, the "fatality music" is playing and never stops....cool:) KUNG LAO BLUE HAT GLITCH (Must be using Kung Lao) Get your opponents energy down to where they can only take one more hit. Get as far away from your opponent as you can and do a hat toss. When you throw the hat (assuming that it connects), immediately press the run button to do a babality. The babality will happen as normal but Kung Lao's hat will be a bright blue color. ONE BUTTON FRIENDSHIP GLITCHES Ok, here's the pattern. Player x (either player 1 or 2) wins the first round. Player y wins the second round (whoever lost the first must win the second.) Now try pressing buttons to do a one button fatality .. you can't do one! The only one button finishing move you can do in this case is the friendship. Best part about it, your opponent can fight you while you're doing the friendship! This produces some *really* funny effects. TRY THIS WITH NIGHTWOLF!! You can uppercut the arcade game as it comes down, or even beat up Raiden! It's funny:) :) If you wait to the very last second to pull of a friendship on your opponent, your opponent will fall over but the character will do his/her friendship anyway. PATTERN FOR ONE BUTTON FATALITY GLITCHES Oh, indeed there are a lot more of these glitches than what I have listed here. (And no, I do not keep a list of them written down so don't email asking for them). They do anything from change the color of a weapon to leaving an outline of a character doing his previous move just before the fatality. Instead of listing them all here, I'm going to give you the general pattern for the way they work. Enable one button fatalities. Get your opponents energy down so that they can only take one more hit. Do the last move on them (best if it's a special move) and IMMEDIATELY press a button to do a finishing move. (This move can be a fatality, friendship, or whatever.) NOTE Different moves produce different results, so experiment:) But please .. DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE OF THESE GLITCHES!!!! I have added all I am going to add. Why? Because there are a million of them!! .. and there's just not enough space here (or time) for me to add them all. NOTE It appears that Smoke's earth bomb fatality and Sheeva's friendship do not work, or at least not on my version anyyway. KOOLER STUFF MENU ----------------------- At the menu select screen, press: Select, A, B, Right, Left, Down, Down, Up, Up. Here is the list of options, explanations are provided whenever needed: 2x HEALTH (Damage is reduced when you are hit by an attack) 2x DAMAGE (You do twice as much damage to your opponent) QUICK FINISH (One button fatalities) ENABLE SMOKE ENABLE MOTARO ENABLE POWER KODE (Damage is reduced even more) HEALTH RECOVERY 30 CREDITS KOOL STUFF MENU ------------------------- (See Kool Stuff Kode for access details) Here is the list of options, explanations are provided whenever neeeded: TIMER ON/OFF MAX FATALITY TIME ON/OFF (If this is on, you have about 20 seconds to pull off a finishing move). PLAY MINI GAME (This is the galaxian game. You can play more than one stage on it if you live long enough. How far has anyone gotten in this game ... if you have seen an ending, email me). KOMBAT ZONE (This is a level select option. You can select your level between rounds by pressing left or right on the control pad). ENABLE PAUSE (Lets you pause the game during a fight). VIEW GAME CREDITS (Yippie) ======================== GAME GENIE SECTION ======================== These are kodes that you need a game genie to enter. Since the non game genie kodes have been found, most of these aren't really needed anymore but I have included them anyway. FOR A SOUND TEST (Game genie required) D42E-44D8 D424-17D8 D421-1DD8 Press A on the menu screen Select Sound Test COMMONLY ASKED QUESTION Before you write with a question .. make sure it's not covered here:) 1. Do you know about or could you please send me (insert move or code here) If it's not in this faq, then I don't know about it. This goes for Johny Cage transformations (doesn't exist), a Goro morph (doesn't exist) and NUDALITIES!!! (Doesn't exist .. please don't write anyone asking for "nude codes" .. it makes you sound like a total lamer:-) I would like to add, I do not have codes to play as or against any characters not listed in this FAQ. 2. I tried the boss kode and although I can see them on the character select screen, I can't select them. You can only play as the bosses in a two player game. Once you press start for player two to join in, you can now play as the bosses. 3. Can you send me a list of each character's COMBOS? I don't have a kombo FAQ but you can find the BEST MK3 combo faq around at: It is written by Kralor and he's got oever 300 combos listed. http://rat.org/mk/mk3krc20.faq 4. Do you know the Smoke morph or know how to enable Smoke permantly? The answer for now is .. no and no, sorry:( 5. How do you get Reptile, Scorpion, Kitana, Mileena, Jade, etc. on SNES? You don't. These characters are only playable on Ultimate MK3, an arcade upgrade to the original MK3. This will be true until when/if UMK3 comes out for SNES. 6. Will there be an Ultimate MK3 for SNES? UPDATE At this point, it may be possible (as Ed Boon said in EGM #77) that there could be a release of UMK3 for many of the home systems. My best advice to you is to read the gaming mags. That's where I willl most likely find out about all the latest news of UMK3 home versions. 7. I can't seem to get (insert FINISHING MOVE HERE) Pulling off some fatalities are a little more difficult on SNES than they were in the arcade. This has led some of you to believe that the finishing moves might be different in the SNES version than they were in the arcade. But this is not the case. Every finishing move that worked in the arcade will work on this version as well. One of the main ones that people have trouble with is Kung Lao's hat toss finisher and also, various others. If you are having this problem, try doing the following two things: a. Bring up the kool stuff menu and select Max Fatality Time "On." You will now have about 20 seconds to pull one off. b. Kralor (kralor@rat.org) suggests that if you are having trouble with one, push the last button as you are doing the last control motion instead of waiting until afterward. This seems to work for some of the fatalities. c. Also, WATCH YOUR DISTANCE. If you are standing too close or too far, you will not do the finishing move. Try varying your distance. 8. Are there one button nudealities? No. 9. Hey, I got this GREAT 98% combo for (insert character here). I already gave you the url for the combo FAQ. I do not do combos for MK3 so therefore, I am not interested. 10. Here's a cool one button fatality glitch .... Save it, I've probably seen all of them by now at least twice:) I have gotten over 200 emails involving these glitches. So if you sent one and didn't get a response, now you know why. If I come across sounding like a jerk, sorry .. don't mean to. 11. I can't seem to do a mercy/animality. See the move FAQ down below for more details. ULTIMATE MK3 KODES At various times when you're playing this version, you will get a kode on the screen with 6 symbols on it. You cannot control the outcome of this kode and you cannot use it on the SNES version. They are for Ultimate MK3 which is an arcade upgrade to the original MK3. Note that these kodes seem to appear at random, I don't think there is a definite way to get one of these kodes to appear, although several theories have been proposed and disproven. Also note that these are not the kodes that appear on Scott's Slots. If you are given a kode while playing the slots, you CAN use those on SNES MK3. The UMK3 kodes I speak of appear sometimes at the end of a game or when you beat the game. ************************* MOVES, VS CODES, ETC. ***************************** This faq was written by Rat and changed somewhat by me to fit the home version games. Please .. do not and I repeat ...DO NOT mail Rat if you have question about any of these moves on the home versions. All of these moves and kodes should work on whatever system you play MK3 on. This FAQ is used and modified with permission for the author. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- U = Up HP = High Punch HK = High Kick F = Forward BL = Block D = Down LP = Low Punch LK = Low Kick B = Back R = Run Move (distance): movement For movement: "-" means "then" "+" means "and" So D-F-HP+LP means Down, then forward, then hit HP and LP at the same time. If something requires UP, it helps to hold block, but it is not necessary. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special things -------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Combos: - I have listed the "best" combo I know of for each character. --------------------------------------- Friendships/Babalities: - Don't hit block during the winning round - You can be anywhere on the screen - You can do a friendship/babality after a doing a mercy (optional) --------------------------------------- Stage fatalities: Shao Kahn's Tower The Subway The Pit III (see "Stage:" for each character) (the distance is always "up close") --------------------------------------- Mercy: Hold RUN (D-D) .. you may have to press down three or four times to activate the mercy. This gives your opponent a little bit of energy back after you beat them. - You have to hold run a certain amount of time. Around 2-3 seconds. - Your opponent has to have won one round. - You can be anywhere on the screen except close. - You have to do this if you want to do an Animality. After the mercy has been done, and it says "Finish him/her" again, anyone can do an animality. - You can't do more than one mercy per match. - You may do any finisher (Fatality, Friendship, Stage or Babality) after the mercy. This does not mean you HAVE TO do the mercy first. --------------------------------------- Random Select: Just like MK2. Up-Start at the select screen. The default players have to be selected for this to work. Shang Tsung for Player 1 and Liu Kang for Player 2. --------------------------------------- VS. screen codes On the VS screen (in 2 player mode), you can cycle through the 6 symbols by hitting High Punch, Low Punch, and Low Kick on both sides.
