Trust me, no matter how random a game can be, |L| a strategy guide can be made. So here it comes. |L| |L| When you start the game your best to start by organising the |L| game pieces into 'Towers' (See TETRIMINOLOGY). This way you can |L| gradually make your TETRIS up. If your first block is an 'I' |L| block you should put them verticaly up the wall so that they |L| don't fill up un-necessary space. By doing this you eliminate all |L| the layers down the bottom so that you can get easy lines and |L| also go for the TETRIS. From there the different combo's are |L| limitless. So here I go with how I do it. The 'Z' and 'S' blocks |L| I tower up the sides or next to each other. These blocks are the |L| hardest to fit places so putting them on top of each other will |L| reduce the holes in your layers. When you get your first 'T' |L| piece your should put it's flat side on the bottom layer of the |L| screen. From here start layering what you can but try not to make |L| a 'Fish Net' (See TETRIMINOLOGY). |L| |L| An easy way to get a tetris is to layer all your pieces but |L| leave a row on the side of the screen spare so that when you get |L| a 'I' piece you can slot it down there and collect the tetris. |L| The only bad thing about this is that the 'I' pieces either don't |L| come at all or they come at the wrong time. |L| |L| Another way to play is to just eliminate each line as you go. |L| This way you will probably not get a tetris but you will steadily |L| increase your line count. This way is probably the safest way |L| that you could play but it's about the most boring way that you |L| could play. Live on the edge, take risks and find that you will |L| get more points from taking risks in Tetris. |L| |L| Always look up at the Preview box for what is coming out next. |L| This will help you in the placement of the pieces. Also you will |L| have to train your mind to think how each piece looks when it is |L| rotated and see where it can fit. You will net this further when |L| you increase the level count, oh boy it can come down fast at |L| level 15+. |L| |L| TIPS FROM TRAVELLING LONG DISTANCES IN A CAR WHILE PLAYING TETRIS |L| ON A GAMEBOY (RANT ONE OF MANY MORE TO COME) |L| |L| Ok where do I start. Oh yeah, when you decide to play Tetris |L| while traveling anywhere make note of these special points. |L| |L| £ Have you got enough batteries for the entire trip ? |L| £ Will you be by any chance going under overpasses, through |L| tunnels etc (Trust me this is a major one.) ? |L| £ Do you have a set of head-phones ? |L| |L| Now why I'm pointing these things out is because they have all |L| been major things that have happened to me. Below I will explain |L| in more detail why these things are important. |L| |L| 1: Batteries. Well we all know the feeling when your right at |L| the good part of a game and the batteries kick it in, and |L| leave you sitting there gagging on, well anger (could |L| have said many other things). Well don't be stuck with |L| this problem. Bring more batteries than you will ever |L| need. Just in case... |L| |L| 2: Overpasses. Don't know what these are, well I'll explain. An |L| overpass is like a bridge that when driving on a freeway |L| your car will pass under. Now note. In a game like Tetris |L| one millisecond is all that seperates you from a perfect |L| Tetris and misery while you bash your head on the door |L| handle. How does this happen, well sometimes when you go |L| under an overpass there will be a shadow of the overpass. |L| This may last for a brief moment or a few seconds. But |L| that is enough time to blank out your vision of the |L| Gameboy screen and lose a brilliant line. The best way to |L| get around this is to make the Driver of the car or |L| someone else that is watching the road to warn you a few |L| seconds before that the overpass is coming. This will |L| allow you enough time to pause and wait. |L| |L| 3: Headphones. Headphones I hear you say, well what's more |L| annoying, you losing a Tetris by an underpass, or your |L| other siblings annoying the crap out of you and making |L| you lose a Tetris. The answer is your other siblings. |L| Why ? Well by the time the overpass goes by and ruins |L| your game, you can't turn around an thump it, but with |L| siblings you can. The only bad thing is that you sort of |L| get in trouble when you hit your siblings. So the answer |L| is headphones. You won't hear them at all, well with it |L| turned up real loud, but this will chew batteries, and |L| this is where the extra batteries come in handy. |L| _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _|L| |L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L| |L| |L| CHEATS |L|_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L|L| |L| TETRIS (GAMEBOY) |L| |L| Harder Game |L| At the title screen, hold DOWN and press START. When you start |L| your game you will see a little heart by the level and the game |L| will run much faster. |L| Submitted by Benjamin Katt |L| |L| Helpful Hint |L| You know that those blocks and l shapes can be pretty annoying. |L| Well right from the start make a column on the left hand side |L| for blocks only, then another column for l shaped only. When |L| you need them use them in the center but otherwise do as I said.|L| Submitted by Chris Pateman |L| |L| No Preview |L| To play a harder game where the next piece is not shown, hit |L| START during any point of the game. While the game is paused, |L| hit SELECT. When the game is restored, the box where the next |L| piece is shown will be empty. To show the pieces again, repeat |L| this process. |L| Submitted by rghanson@iamerica.net |L| |L| Secret Ending |L| In Tetris mode B there is a special level ending. To earn it |L| score 25 lines on level 9, with the initial height set to 5. |L| If you're successful you will be rewarded with new music with |L| Russian dancers and musicians prancing in front of the title |L| picture. |L| Submitted by Kenny Coats |L| |L| Secret Rockets |L| Secret rockets are found in both type games. The type A game |L| will show a small rocket when you hit 100,000 points and a |L| large rocket when you hit 200,000 points.
