Medium range is semi-decent, but it may be better to sneak around and kill the enemy at a closer range. You have access to mostly assault rifles, two of which are equipped with grenade launchers. The grenade launcher is used exactly the same way as a Grenadier in previous games, in that you put the crosshair on the target and fire. You also have the unique abilities of faster movement and longer knifing range. You should move around in the background, meaning running from landscape item to landscape item (as in huts, alleys, tires, trees, walls, cars, bushes, etc.) to provide yourself with cover. A skill highly recommended is strafing, you should learn it early on so you can dodge more bullets. Leaning and rolling are also highly recommended, as they can save your life multiple times. =============================================================================== III.Gunner ---------- Gunners, as with CQBs, should limit themselves to medium to mostly close range. You have access to the more powerful, higher-rate-of-fire (HRF) weapons. You also are the only class with an AT4, so if an enemy is flying overhead in a Black Hawk or is driving a Humvee amongst your line of fire, do your team a favor and fire this powerful rocket into the enemy. With more health than your comrades, you will usually be the spearhead of invasions or will be the best equipped to stop enemy invasions. With the ability to fire HRF weapons, you shouldn't be too worried about hiding as much as CQB, just stay near an area where you can take cover if the scenario changes. =============================================================================== IV.Medic -------- Your sole duties are to revive and heal your comrades. With access to only two primary weapons, you're best off teaming up with an experienced player and following him or her around to your fallen comrades. Press 9 to pull out your Medpack. Press the FIRE button when over a dead teammate to revive them. To heal teammates, they must have taken at least a little damage. Do the same as you do to revive teammates, except run to alive teammates. To easily see if a teammate is wounded, look at their tag. If it is yellow or red, go over to them and use your Med Pack on them. I don't recommend engaging in extensive battling, as you are probably the weakest of the classes. Instead, follow teammates and heal and revive the ones that take damage and die. =============================================================================== V.Sniper -------- There are two main types of snipers: urban and distant. If you're urban sniping, you want to find a place with a lot of foot traffic. From this place, find an area nearby within eyesight, where you can fire numerously without giving away your exact position. For urban sniping, I usually do Black Hawk jumps (BHJs). BHJs are done by flying around in the Black Hawk until you find a normally inaccessible building which you can access without killing yourself or without enemies killing you. Then, you simply drop out of the Black Hawk and land on either the target or the path that will be used to get to the target. Distant sniping is simple, just find a hill, mountain, or depression in the land and either stand, crouch, or prone to get into position. Remember though, the farther out you are, the more lead you must give the target to be able to hit and kill it. =============================================================================== VI.Grenades ----------- All of the characters are equipped with types of grenades, however, each class is equipped with different amounts of each type. There are Flash Bangs (4), Frags (5), and Smoke Grenades (6). There are certain circumstances that may benefit from the use of a certain grenade. Flash Bangs cause the enemy's screen to become blackened and is restored to normal after a few seconds. There are some Wise and Foolish times to use them. Here are some, but not all, of them: ~Wise~ -Use in an area of enemies (mostly, the Zone) before the assault -Blind a/the Flagcarrier(s) before he or she/they can reach the Flag Bay, and kill them in their blindness -Use against a manned Humvee ~Foolish~ -Use when no enemy is near -Use against a group of Gunners with HRF weapons -Use when only one/few enemy/ies of a group is/are looking Frags cause an explosion of decent blast radius. There are some Wise and Foolish times to use them. Here are some, but not all, of them: ~Wise~ -Use to rid a clayed area of its clays -Use against a group enemies -Use instead of bullets, so as not to draw attention (mainly, behind enemy lines) ~Foolish~ -Use when no enemy or enemy clay is near -Use and stand in blast radius (thus killing yourself) -Use against friendly clays Smoke Grenades cause an area of about the size of a Satchel Charge's blast radius to become dense with thick smoke. There are some Wise and Foolish times to use them. Here are some, but not all, of them: ~Wise~ -Use to cover the Flagcarrier(s) in his or her/their journey to the Flag Bay -Use in one path, but travel another (distraction) -Use for cover from enemy snipers or fire. ~Foolish~ -Use in the Zone (greatly slows down game) -Use against a group of HRF-equipped Gunners, or M21-equipped Snipers -Use aginst a Minigun/.50 Cal/Auto-nade =============================================================================== VII.Claymores ------------- Claymores can be your best ally or your worst enemy. These mines detonate towards where they're faced. Most new players make the mistakes of placing them backwards, placing them towards a wall, placing them in obvious places, shooting their own when they are standing in the direction the clays detonate, or shooting their teammates' clays. ~Some Smart Clay Placing~ -Facing the alternate path in "T" passages -In/Next to/On a bush or shrub -Hiding behind a tree trunk -Inside a Black Hawk -Facing where a player sits when he or she mans the Humvee (towards the turret) -Hiding at the base of an Emplaced Weapon -Hidden in dark areas (whther it be ground or not) -At either side of a doorway -At the top of stairs or ladders ~Some Ways to Clear Clayed Areas~ -Lean around corners and shoot them (be careful to not have your head blown up in the process) -Throw a Frag in the clayed area -Drop a Satchel Charge from above and detonate it -Ask a Sniper to clear it for you -Launch a grenade from either M203 variant -Use an AT4 -Shoot the clays from the opposite direction of where they are facing -Man the Auto-nade and fire at the clayed area -Use a teammate as bait (it's not nice, but if you're a med, you can promise to revive them, thus getting both of you 10 points) =============================================================================== VIII.Emplaced Weapons --------------------- There three Emplaced Weapons to be found online in BHD. They are the Minigun, the Auto-nade, and the .50 Cal. Of these, the .50 Cal seems to be the most common. The Minigun is found mostly in Black Hawks, but sometimes is found on buildings or in other areas. The Auto-nade is found rarely, and usually placed at a vantage point (like on a roof or at the end of a long road). The .50 Cal is found on the Humvees, on buildings, and in some areas on the ground. When a player mans one of these not on vehicles, they are easy to shoot. A Sniper can easily take out the player, as the player's head is a very open target, even to those without a sniper rifle. When a player mans the Minigun on the Black Hawk, they usually must be killed by an explosion, whether from an Auto-nade, AT4, Frag, Satchel, Claymore, or M203 round. Most people may doubt the Claymore and Satchel, but I've done it and seen it done by others; you must jump into the Black Hawk from a building or roof to do it. When a player mans the Humvee, a Sniper can usually shoot them when the opening of the wall-guards reveals the player inside. The enemy can also be killed by an explosion, and normal fire, even pistol fire. =============================================================================== IX.Vehicles ----------- There are mainly only two vehicles seen online in BHD. They are the Black Hawk and the Humvee. Both travel a set track around the level. The Black Hawk returns to its landing area when the player inside it is killed. The Humvees are equipped with one .50 Cal machine gun each, and the Black Hawks are equipped with two Minigun each. There is usually one or two Black Hawks in every city-set level. There are usually one or two sets of Humvees (Humvees come in pairs) in each city-set level. In battle between Black Hawks and Humvees, the Black Hawk usually wins, but I've seen the Humvee sometimes, with luck, win. Of the two, I find the Humvee better to travel in, as you're not as obvious as being in a Black Hawk. Also, the .50 Cal on the Humvee is easier to control than the Minigun ont he Black Hawk, as you must switch Miniguns on the Black Hawk sometimes. Also, I find that the Humvee protects you from explosion more than the Black Hawk does. =============================================================================== X.Knifing --------- Possibly the best way to kill an enemy is to knife them, as it leaves them unable to be helped by a med and sometimes annoys them. The Medic runs the fastest, so you reach the enemy quicker and can escape quicker. The CQB is probably the better choice, though. CQBs have a longer knifing range, and run the second-fastest, so by losing a little speed and gaining some distance, you have a much higher chance at being successful. Although, Medics and CQBs are not the only ones with knives, all of the classes have them. Snipers will usually prefer to knife enemies they know won't turn around. In other words, other Snipers. However, the Sniper can knife enemies in other circumstances. If the Sniper is careful and sneaky about it, he or she can circle behind the enemies and knife them from behind. I do not recommed this in open levels, though; it is more safe in city-set levels, as there are more ways to escape. The Gunner is probably the worst to knife with, as they run similar to the speed of a Humvee when they equip their knife. Although, with practice, you might be able to knife unsuspecting enemies. Until Stat Padding began to be enforced, there were usually Knife Only games among the servers with few players in them. One of the honorable rules to follow if you're going to knife someone is to not throw a Smoke Grenade or Flash Bang before knifing them, as it makes them believe that you could not have knifed them otherwise. =============================================================================== XI.Future Updates ----------------- There are no planned updates at this time, but if you would like something added, please contact me. =============================================================================== XII.Contact ----------- If you would like to contact me, please e-mail me at mutehyena23988(at)yahoo(dot)com =============================================================================== XIII.Legal Stuff ---------------- This guide is restricted to personal, private use only, and is not to be publicly distributed.
