I play this game quite a lot and when I went to see if there were any guides for it on gamefaqs I was surprised to see none. So, I sat down at my computer and began collecting notes on the game i.e. the cards and their worth, all the squares on the board, all the game options and so on. Well Ive written a few other guides for a few other games, check them out sometime. Well, hope you like my guide! ---------------------------------- [--------------------] [About the game [atg1] [--------------------] Monopoly is a very old game in which players travel around the board buying properties and building hotels and houses on them. When the other player lands on one of these he will have to pay the property owner money. The player who is not bankrupt at the end of the game wins. It may seem very complicated but after while you will understand it. It’s quite simple once you get the hang of it. Well, I hope you enjoy the game and my guide. --------------------------------------- [--------------------------] [How to play monopoly [htpm] [--------------------------] The aim of the game in monopoly is to bankrupt your opponent. You go around the board buying properties and building houses and hotels on them. You start the game with £1500 though you can change the amount in the options. Once you have played the game awhile and gone round the board a few times you should have picked up most of the rules. --------------------------------------- [---------------------------] [The main menu options [tmmo] [---------------------------] Here are the options on the main menu: New Game: Click this to begin a brand new game Load Game: Click this to load a game that you haven’t finished yet and load the saved game. Save Game: Click this if you wan to save the current game you are in, then you can load it up whenever you want to. Exit Game: Click this if you want to exit the game. Cancel: This button doesn’t do much just takes you back. --------------------------------------- [------------------] [The controls [tc01] [------------------] The controls in monopoly are quite simple, as would expect. You use the mouse to click on the objects you wish to select. Simple enough? You may be wondering, how do you manage to roll the dice with the mouse? Well, you don't. You are required to click on the dice and the game does the rest for you. It spins the dice and throws them for you at random. The only time you would ever be required to use anything apart from the mouse would be when you are typing in your profiles name. --------------------------------------- [-----------------] [The Squares [ts01] [-----------------] Here are the squares on the board in order from GO: GO Old Kent Road Community Chest Whitechapel Road Income Tax Kings Cross Station The angel Islington Chance Euston road Pentonville road Jail Pall Mall Electric Company Whitehall Northumberland Avenue Marylebone Station Bow Street Community Chest Marlborough Street Vine Street Free Parking Strand Chance Fleet Street Trafalgar Square Fenchurch St. Station Leicester Square Coventry Street Water Works Piccadilly Go to jail Regent Street Oxford Street Community Chest Bond Street Liverpool St. Station Chance Park Lane Super Tax Mayfair That’s a list of all the squares in the game on the board. ---------------------------------------------- [---------------------------------] [The squares/properties info [tspi] [---------------------------------] Here is a list of all the squares you can land on in monopoly. Here they are in order from GO. Go ---- Go is the first square on the monopoly board and is where you start the game from at the beginning of every game. There is a rule (which I usually like to have on) where if you land on GO you collect £400 (double money). It’s up to you if you want to turns this option on. Every time you go past GO you collect £200. Old Kent Road ------------- Old Kent road along with its pair white chapel road are the cheapest properties on the board, they are the brown properties and I recommend buying these if you’re low on money. Community Chest --------------- The Community Chest square is a bunch of cards that when you them they can help you or hinder you, it’s really down to luck of the draw with theses cards. I will give you a list of the community chest cards further down the guide. The community chest cards are yellow. Whitechapel Road ----------------- Whitechapel Road is the second and last of the brown properties on the monopoly board. This like Old Kent Road is also very cheap to by and build on. Income Tax ---------- The income tax square is as it sounds, a tax. Whenever you land on this square you have to pay roughly £200. The amount you pay on the tax can change. Its luck of the draw really because you get the option on weather to pick flat tax or percentage. I don’t think which one you pick makes much difference because you are going to have to pay money whatever you click. Kings Cross Station ------------------- Kings cross station is the first of the four stations in the game, it costs £200 which isn’t cheap but if you manage to collect all four stations in the game it will be worth it. I would suggest trying to get all the stations in your game. The angel Islington ------------------- The angel Islington is the first of the blue properties on the monopoly board. There are two other blue properties in this blue series: Euston road, Pentonville road. The blue properties are quite cheap to build on so this is a good buy with a small budget. Chance ------ When you land on the chance square you will be made to pick up a chance card. I will list these cards further down the guide. The chance cards are red. Like the community chest cards these are really luck of the draw which cards you pick up. Also like the community chest cards you get bad and good chance cards. Euston road ----------- Euston road is the second blue card on the monopoly board. Its pretty cheap so you shouldn’t have trouble buying it. Pentonville road ---------------- Pentonville road is the third and last of the blue cards on the monopoly board. These three cards are a good set to have because they are quite cheap. Jail ---- Jail, you land on this square either because you have rolled three doubles in a row, landed on a chance/community chest square and received a go to jail card or you have landed on the go to jail square on the board. When you are in jail you have the option whether to try and roll a double and go free or pay the £50 fine and go. You get three attempts at throwing a double then you have to pay. Pall Mall --------- Pall Mall is the first of the pink properties on the monopoly board. These properties are not quite as cheap as the blue properties or the brown ones but are still good buy. There are two other properties in the pink property series, these are: Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue. These are not a bad lot of properties to have. Electric Company ---------------- The Electric Company is an odd property to say the least. There is one other property in this series that will double the amount of money the opponent has to pay. To determine how much the opponent pays when they land on this square they roll the dice. The other property in this series is the Water Works. Whitehall --------- Whitehall is the second property in the pink series, again this property is not very cheap but if you get all three of the pinks and have enough money to build on them, your money should soon be repaid. Northumberland Avenue --------------------- Northumberland Avenue is the third and last of the pink properties. I suggest you buy these three properties if you land on one the first time round the monopoly board otherwise don’t worry about them. Marylebone Station ------------------ Marylebone station is the second station on the monopoly board it costs the same as the first station (£200). I strongly suggest you try to get the three stations, they usually help me so they will help you. Bow Street ---------- Bow Street is the first of what are in my opinion the best properties to buy in the game. They are not to expensive, they earn a lot and your opponent often lands on them. These are the orange properties. It’s a good buy. I strongly suggest you buy them (if you can). Community Chest --------------- The next square on the board is another community chest square. The second one on the board. The Community Chest square is a bunch of cards that when you get them they can help you or hinder you, it’s really down to luck of the draw with theses cards. I will give you a list of the community chest cards further down the guide. The community chest cards are yellow. Marlborough Street ------------------ Marlborough Street is the second orange property on the monopoly board. It’s roughly the same amount of money as Bow Street. Cost shouldn’t be a problem unless you have serious money problems. Vine Street ----------- Vine Street is the last property in the orange property series. If you have all of them and you have finally managed to get hotels on them, you should be well on your way to winning because as soon as your opponent lands on one of your orange squares he’s going to have to pay a fair amount. Buy these properties. Free Parking ------------ Ah, now here’s an interesting one, free parking. Well free parking only comes into play if you turn the free parking rule on. If you do not turn the rule on then this card will mean nothing to you and you should not bother reading the rest of the info on this card. If you have the free parking rule turned on each time you land on the square you should receive a large amount of money that builds up over time. This square is not available to buy. Strand ------ Strand is the first property of the red property series. These properties are quite expensive and only if you have a large amount of money you will be able to afford then build on these properties. There are three red properties in all, the two other red properties are: Fleet Street and Trafalgar Square. Chance ------ This is the second chance square on the board. When you land on the chance square you will be made to pick up a chance card. I will list these cards further down the guide. The chance cards are red. Like the community chest cards these are really luck of the draw which cards you pick up. Also like the community chest cards you get bad and good chance cards. Fleet Street ------------ Fleet Street is the second property in the red property series, it costs £220 which is quite expensive for just the one property but as I said before if you get houses/hotels on these you will be nearly unstoppable. A good buy if you have the money.\ Trafalgar Square ------ Strand is the last and final property in the red property series. These three properties are good buys but only if you have the money. Don’t start buying these if you have only £250 or so left because you will not be able to afford the houses. Fenchurch St. Station --------------------- This is the third train station on the monopoly board and like all the others costs £200. If by now you have the three stations you should be getting £100 each time someone lands on one of your stations. It may take you awhile to land on all the stations but it is worth it. Leicester Square ---------------- Leicester Square is the first property in the yellow series properties. These properties are quite expensive, a bit like the red properties. I would suggest you go for these only if you have a lot of money. There are two other yellow properties, these are: Coventry Street and Piccadilly. Coventry Street --------------- This is the second property in the yellow property series. This property costs £260 which is quite expensive. These yellow properties cost more than the red properties so I would only advise buying these properties if you have a very lot of money or these are the only properties that you are going to buy in your game. Water Works ----------- The Water Works is the pair to the Electricity Company, if you have the electricity company then whenever the opponent lands on this square they have to pay double the amount. This costs £150 like the electricity company. This is a nice buy if you can afford it. Piccadilly ---------- Piccadilly is the last property out of the three yellow properties. It costs £280 which makes it the most expensive card out of the three yellow properties. The yellow properties are the most expensive properties we have seen so far but more expensive properties are on the way. Go to jail ---------- Go to jail is another one of those odd squares like free parking, go, and so on. Whenever you land on this square you will go straight to jail and you will not get your £200 for passing GO. You don’t really ever want to land on this square. Regent Street ------------- Regent Street is the first of the green properties. These properties are the three most expensive properties on the board. This may sound like a bad thing but if you have the money and you manage to get a couple of houses on these they will start bringing in the money no problem. Oxford Street ------------- Oxford Street is the second property in the green property trio. This property like the other two green ones costs £300, this is expensive but this should be worth it in the end. Community Chest --------------- This is the third and final community chest square on the monopoly board. The Community Chest square is a bunch of cards that when you get them they can help you or hinder you, it’s really down to luck of the draw with theses cards. I will give you a list of the community chest cards further down the guide. The community chest cards are yellow. Bond Street ------------- Bond Street is the final green property and the last trio properties on the board. If you have succeeded in buying all the green properties you would have spent £900 which is a very lot of money. By now you should see what I mean about a lot of money needed for owning these properties. Can be a good purchase. Liverpool St. Station --------------------- This is the final station and costs just like all the other stations £200. By now you may have purchased all the four stations on the board. If you have then every time the opponent lands on one of your stations they will have to pay you £200. Not a bad amount. Chance ------ This is the third and final chance square on the monopoly board. When you land on the chance square you will be made to pick up a chance card. I will list these cards further down the guide. The chance cards are red. Like the community chest cards these are really luck of the draw which cards you pick up. Also like the community chest cards you get bad and good chance cards. Park Lane --------- Park lane is the first of the two most expensive and best properties in the game. It costs £350, which is quite expensive. If you get both of the dark blue properties and manage to put houses/hotels on them you may become a very rich man. Super Tax --------- Super tax is the second and last of the taxes. If you land on this square you have to pay £75. Mayfair ------- Mayfair is probably the most well known square on the board. It costs £400 and is the second and last of the two dark blue properties. If you have the two dark blue properties you will probably be quite low on money. If you have houses/hotels on the properties then you will probably have a lot of money (if the opponent has landed on them). Well that’s every single square form go right around to Mayfair, hope that’s helpful to you. --------------------------------------------- [-------------------------------------------] [The worth and value of the properties [twvp] [-------------------------------------------] Here are all the properties in the game and all the information on them.
