Cadillacs and Dinosaurs Tips and Hints Chapters 1-6 Don't shoot any living creatures, especially not the dinosaurs! Remember you are trying to save them, not kill them. Besides, they don't want to hurt you, but if you hurt them the dinosaurs will defend themselves. But humans are another story. If you see humans taking shots at you, feel free to shoot back. There are no dead ends anywhere. If the path appears blocked, you missed a turn just before the blockage. Don't shoot the health crystals! That simply prevents you from collecting them and benefiting from their healing powers. Use the Boost (button B) to give the Cadillac the extra speed needed to jump the large cracks in the ground, but you will have to run over a rock to get enough altitude. If you appear to be driving through the same path over and over again, try taking a different turn. There is always a way out, and some ways are shorter and easier than others. Learn to anticipate where the turns will appear. Some turns require early preparation in order to navigate them properly, so be ready. Beware the Poachers! Scharnhorst and Hammer sent them out to stop you. So, if you have the chance, take them out, because they will try to take you out. The Poachers have also dug pit traps. They are covered with leaves and are quite deadly. Try to shoot at any leaves on the ground to see if there is a trap under those leaves. The Sambuks are quite curious and they like to roam around. Just leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Zekes, who appear first in Ch. 2, are only trying to protect their nest. Avoid their dive bombing runs as best as you can, and remember not to shoot them. Macks first appear in Ch. 3, are rough and tough, and they will protect their territory vigorously. But Hammer's men are also trapping them like crazy. When you see them, either find a way around them, or destroy the trap that's got a hold of them. Cutters also appear in Ch. 3 and are also pretty mean. They are carnivores, so if there is some bait caged up nearby, shoot the cage and free the prey, and the Cutter will leave you alone. Also look for a gas barrel or two sitting by a Cutter. Shoot them to scare the Cutter away. Shivats, who show up first in Ch. 5, have a real bad attitude. They are always hungry and never want to be bothered when they are eating. When you see them, turn away as soon as possible, or you will become another good meal for the Shivat. If you see an especially mean Shivat, turning away is not enough. You must find a way to block him or he will eat you no matter what you do. >Chapters 7-9 Keep an eye on the pressure meter and at bottom left of your instrument panel. This indicates which color pipe is safe to shoot. If you shoot a color beyond the one indicated, you will take damage from the high pressure steam pouring out. In other words, if your meter is on yellow, you can shoot blue and yellow pipes, but not red or green pipes. Also keep an eye on the Geiger counter in the middle. In Chapter 7, it will lead you to the nuclear stockpile and an important conversation with Hobb. Chapter 8 is all about relieving enough pressure in the factory to force the Master Chamber doors open. Just pay attention to the pressure meter. Use the rail gun to destroy the targets on the tracks in front of you. That way you can concentrate on shooting the pipes, soldiers, and automated guns. But again, don't destroy the health crystals by accident. Look out for the Guards wearing the radiation suits. Their job is just like the one the Poachers had, which is to kill you. So shoot them when you can. In Chapter 9, use the B button to turn around and shoot targets you've already passed. But you will have to be facing forward in order to make the turns into other corridors.
