To Unlock the Alternate Paint jobs beat the required time for each track in Time Trial mode. There are 3 alternate paint jobs for each car. Each place will get you a new paint job, for example if you finish 3rd you get one new paint job, if you place second you get another, and another for first place, for a total of 3.
