Edit the file options.dat (a hidden file in the root installation folder) with
 a hex-editor. (Offsets begin with 0x00 in the following)

 Offset 0x2E: This offset is 0x01 by default. The greatest value that would make
 sense is 0x0C. You can choose a new character in the choose dialog ingame with
 each incremental step:

 0x02: Nemesis
 0x03: Kakia
 0x04: Gemini
 0x05: Ayida
 0x06: Kadi
 0x07: Kupala
 0x08: Colleda
 0x09: Sedna
 0x0A: Pinga
 0x0B: Venus
