Draco's FAQ/Walkthrough of Single-Playing and Multiplaying on Total Annihilation: Kingdoms Table of Contents: -------------------------- I. Introduction II. Versions III. Single-Playing & Multiplayer Help IV. Misc. Tips & Tricks V. Unit Information (COMING SOON) VI. Comments & Thanks VII. Copyright -------------------------- I. Introduction - This FAQ/Walkthrough is for the timid and/or ones that get beat down by opponents. I do admit that I'm not that good of a player, but give me a few moments, and you'll never kill me =). Those who hardly get beat by opponents or don't get crushed, send me some tips or tricks =), and I'll list you under 'Comments & Thanks'. Nothing special, but if your wondering if a Tarosian(Taros) Skeletal Archer can take on a Zhon Hunter, I'll be having a special new section which holds most of the units' information. The unit information won't be up for awhile, the unit stats are hard to read. Also, I'm thinking about adding a walkthrough for the game, just for those who are stuck. Okay, now to get on with this FAQ/Walkthrough already! II. Versions - OK, this(FAQ) is version 1.01. I found some major bugs(problems) with this, and now their fixed =). If I get any comments or questions, I'll update this, also if I find mistakes or misspells, I'll update. Now, I'm using the latest patch from www.cavedog.com, which is v.2.0(Not the Beta patch!!). I also use all the latest units made from Cavedog, not from people, 'cause they usually have viruses in them. Also, if you're seeing a different kind of unit, go to http://www.cavedog.com/, and download 'em! III. Single-Playing & Multiplayer Help - Alright the numero(number) uno(one) problem with Multiplaying, is *GASP* LAG!! Tell your friends and foes that your experiencing lag and going to turn down the 'Game Speed' by 2. To turn down the 'Game Speed', press the '-' on your KEYPAD, on the right of the letters. I haven't experienced any trouble, but if your stuck on a certain level or need technical help, e-mail me. If ya have any other problems, send me what's wrong at LegendDracoGriffin@worldnet.att.net, and I'll TRY to help, don't expect miracles =P. IV. Misc. Tips & Tricks - Alright if people(like you) want to submit their own tips & tricks, send it to LegendDracoGriffin@worldnet.att.net. I'll test the tip and/or trick, and if I find it to be tactical(good), I'll post it along with the person's name next to it. 1. If your monarch is expendable, send him or her to the opponent and watch a serious fight break out. Chances are if you use your best attack FIRST(before the opponent), you'll win. 2. When your being attacked by catapults(Stone Giants are catapults for Zhon), I found this out by secret, but on Single-Player, pause the game, select the nearest warriors, look at the enemy dots in the 'Mini- Map', and put your cursor over one and click when two swords appear. Then, click on one of your attacking units(the ones you just told to attack), and see if they're attacking a catapult. I use this trick a lot, and I mean A LOT. 3. If you have enough mana, start making Rolling Towers. They are strong and can take a lot when they're 'Gold' veterans. 4. Taros, to some, may look 'sucky', but if you have a bit of mana, you can pump out some serious fighting freaks! A few weather witches and fire mages, and you can kill anything! 5. Always, always, ALWAYS have a 'Bastion'(Cannon-ball shooter) and a 'Guard Tower' near your lighthouses! 6. Okay, I have to admit, I thought Zhon was pretty worthless, but they have two advantages: Mobile factories(unit builders), and awesome defense. The 'Death Totem' is very good, it NEVER misses unless the target unit moves out of the range. Also, you can build anything ANYWHERE!! ALWAYS keep that in mind, if your getting beat down where you built an outpost, move somewhere else, you have the advantage at that. 7. Aramon, Taros, and Zhon can convert enemies. Veruna has no unit which can convert. Aramon's converter is Elsin, kill the unit you want, then let Elsin revive it from the dead and the unit is yours. Taros is the Mind Mage, aim and fire, simple as that =). Zhon has the Harpy, it may be pretty, but watch for the pink clouds! 8. Never forget, when you are attacking an enemy, have different units! Don't just send one type of unit in, they'll be killed. BUT, by mixing units, they can 'cover' each other and demolish the opponent. 9. OK, this is a tip for newbies, which I had to learn the HARD way. Never work up to the best units, slowly make your way up as you pump out units to defend you. 10. Use your monarch, expendable or not, to build lodestones and get extra mana. Start out far, and work yourself in, BUT before you do that, depending on your race, build a Barracks, Beast Handler, Cabal or Enclave first. *********Submitted*************By*****************Tassen*************** 1. Use the monarch to blast opposing troops often, not just in desperate situations...don't wait until after your army's gone before you waste his. And don't just defend your base with it, either. You can often secure the middle (which tends to have more mana than the rest of the map) early on with just the monarch and some light support. 2. Elsin is most versatile in what he can take on and live because of his meteor spell...it's the only level 2 spell among the monarchs that's really worth using, it's your weapon of choice against enemy monarchs, with full mana you can kill Thirsha fast. 3. Thirsha should be raiding large concentrations of troops all the time, blast and run with the level 3 spell. (Just take care and don't engage large concentrations of missile troops without a diversion.) 4. Lokken has the advantage of fast mana regeneration, I don't consider him much less battle worthy against troops than Elsin.... And he can cloak indefinitely if he's stationary, this is extremely useful. Together with this, and your readily available ghost ship transports, Lokken should never be assassinated. 5. Kirenna...well, you don't really want to be using her much in combat, except at the very beginning. She's the worst at it. 6. As the game goes on, you might want to move your monarch somewhere safe for the rest of the game, they can be just as useful on guard mode in a factory as on the battlefield...and the risk of dying grows steadily larger as time passes and more advanced units come into play. Oh, and don't send your monarch to blast Zhon handlers early in the game. It's bad form :). *********************************************************************** V.
